Memorial day

Across the blogoverse there are memorial day posts appearing. Poems, songs, well written statements of thanks..... and of these I have none.

The wall is blank, with nothing good enough to say what should be said. They've earned better than I can provide.

To my brother who served. To my father, and grandfather who served. To the friends over the years who took their turn without complaint, giving of their time and sometimes their lives. To the old man at the grocery store, still proud to wear a marines head cover. To the old man at the farmers club, who speaks of obscure Asian towns like they were next door. To my students who laid down their books and picked up a rifle, a medical pack, and a 1000 yard stare.

To all these people... I simply say Thank You.

Thanks for remembering Carteach0, but we are the lucky ones, we came home and picked up the pieces of our lives. MANY of our brothers and sisters in arms didn't get that option.

A simple thank you is often the most eloquent.

Well said, Sir.
