A trip to Cabela's today

Funny.... we were only in the store for an hour or so, as we faced a time limit and traveled some distance. It felt like ten minutes.... I think Cabela's has some form of time distortion field operating in it's store.

I didn't spend much... compared to all the depressed gun clinging religious nuts there (about 1/3 appeared to be from New York city). Checkouts were regularly running into the $500-$700 range while we waited in line. Any economic slowdown was not in attendance there today.

I'll let the photos tell the story..... it's an amazing place. One thing... I saw several Browning A-5 shotguns on the used racks. That got my mind thinking about Christmas gifts..... but I don't think the hard cash will be there this year.

Sigh... GLAD I didn't go, I would have spent the entire per diem check :-( Cabelas is toyland for adults!

NFO... the used gun racks and reloading supplies can suck hours out of my life.... although I have the will power to limit spending there. Usually. Mostly.

Brigid.... we spent some time looking at air rifles. I steered him away from the toys to the quality imported adult air rifles. He asked questions.... so maybe the spark is there. I think a range visit with a good .22 and some real easy targets will be in order, just to see what interest blooms.

Cabela's offers a better shopping experience that Bass Pro, I think.
Next weekend the Kansas City store is having a gun show. I don't know if that is nationwide or not.

The gun counter people are always hopping. There may be five or sales people going non-stop. One gets a number and waits. It's ok. I have more time to look at the used guns and accessories. The sales people are helpful once your number is called. They're good at helping beginning shooters, particularly women buying pistols for the first time.

Because the Mr. and the spawn and I were all there yesterday, late afternoon. i was in the bargain room, looking for clothes for the Shark.

We keep missing each other at these venues...

LOL..... Hey Prof, is that you in the last photo, third from the right?

I was there with the youngest boy right around 1pm. Most likely left before you arrived, and maybe crossed paths on 61.

I guess I should E-mail my daily agenda to you... see where the lines cross :-)

I'll be at Southern Lancaster County Farmers and Sportsman's Association today for a rifle shoot
from 12 till 3-4 or so. Stop by if you like, and I'll show you around the club. It's not that far for you, and a pretty nice place to shoot.

It's 35 minutes to the nearest Cabela's for me if the traffic is perfect. That's far enough to keep me away from casual trips, which is just as well. That's one place that seems to suck the money out of my wallet with ease.

I went to Cabela's Saturday as well. I needed some carry ammo and Cabelas has the best selection in the Kansas City area.

I came home with a box of 20 .38Spl +P 158gr LSWCHP for my S&W Model 13 and a box of 25 .38Spl 158gr JHP/XTP for my S&W 442. I don't like to shoot +P in the airweight---makes my wrist ache.

The tab for both boxes including tax was about $1 per cartridge. I think I'll get my Dillon 550b out of storage. I can't afford these prices for practice ammo.
